The Wildfire Collaborative is planning to start the Respite for the Caregiver program on June 7, 2022. In order to do this, volunteers are needed. The program meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays every month, year round. A program review/training is scheduled for Tuesday, May 17 from 10am to noon at House of Hope.
We have eight returning volunteers who worked one on one with the participants, and a few more volunteers are always welcome. What does a volunteer do within this program? Volunteers are needed to prepare/serve lunch; be a leader for music; be a leader for arts and crafts and be an exercise leader.
The purpose of the program is to provide a short period of relief to the caregiver. Being a caregiver, at times, can be stressful and/or difficult. This program offers a social opportunity that is safe and enjoyable to the care receiver while the caregiver can enjoy some much needed respite for their own well being. Caregivers also receive education and ongoing support.
